Bando, Beloved Lizard

Bando, Beloved Lizard
“Hmm.”

Bando, a central bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps) residing in San Francisco, passed quietly in his sleep on Friday.

Bando was adopted in October 2019 from a pet store in the Outer Sunset where he'd been surrendered by a local family who couldn't take care of him anymore. His estimated age at that time was four, making his estimated age at death approximately ten.

Bando enjoyed eating hornworms, sleeping on a heated rock, and watching Survivor. He disliked birds, reflections, and all transparent things.

“Hmm,” said Bando's face.

Bando was a somewhat inscrutable member of the Mann family, not least because he could not talk and had the brain of a literal lizard.

What is known is that Bando's facial expression seemed always to be saying "Hmm."

Bando is survived by Madeline, Billy, and Merlin, who already miss him very much.

In lieu of flowers, please just look at something with no discernible expression while thinking, "Hmm."

Bando had so much dignity.
